Hi! I’m Randi Jo, and I’ve been keeping bees for a decade now. What started as an interest in honeybees quickly turned into something I absolutely love, and somehow, all these years later, I’m still just as fascinated by them.
One of my favorite things about beekeeping is that there is always something new to learn. You can spend years working with bees and they’ll still find a way to surprise you. From the way thousands of individual bees work together as one colony to the different jobs they perform throughout their lives, there’s a whole world happening inside a hive that most people never get to see.
Over the years, I’ve also realized how much I enjoy sharing that world with other people. I especially love helping people understand honeybees a little better and clearing up some of the misconceptions surrounding them. And yes, that includes reminding people that honeybees and wasps are definitely not the same thing!
That’s a big part of why I created this website. I wanted a place where I could share what I’ve learned through my own experiences, continue learning alongside other beekeepers, and hopefully get a few more people interested in these incredible little insects.
I certainly don’t claim to know everything about bees, and I don’t think any beekeeper ever really does. That’s part of the fun. There’s always another season, another hive inspection, and usually another bee doing something that leaves you wondering what in the world they’re up to now.
